Description

Outside

Part of the original Mill Village cottage enclave, Misty Lodge greets guests with a beautiful entrance of flourishing gardens to the front complete with plenty of storage for boots and bits after a muddy walk.

Off the living area to the rear of the lodge, double doors open to a wonderful south facing deck with a charcoal BBQ and an alfresco dining table for 8 people. The deck is an attractive feature of the lodge with its own private pontoon for launching onto the lake during the warmer months when Somerford Lagoon becomes an aquatic playground. The lake is closed to guests between October and March to encourage wintering waterfowl and is a peaceful paradise for bird watching.

In addition to the deck at the back, the property also includes the grass lawn to the side where children can play freely. French doors from the dining area also open out onto the lawn which is a beautiful spot to enjoy the morning sun.

Your stay at Misty lodge includes access to the Lower Mill Spa facilities, which is rare for Mill Village properties. Additionally, the lodge is very close to the Mill Village outdoor pool, tennis court, children's playground, mini football pitch, inground trampoline, yoga studio, and the Activities Hub for hiring bikes and watercraft. An slightly further walk will lead you to the Spa and the popular Ballihoo onsite restaurant and shop. There is convenient access to many of the Lower Mill trails and a charming walk along the Thames into the nearby village of Ashton Keynes.

 Ground Floor

The moment you set foot inside Misty Lodge; you will instantly feel like you've come home. The owner's love of nature, travel and birdlife is evident as unique and quirky artwork decorates the lodge and enhances the feeling of truly being immersed in nature.

Off the entry hall you will find a WC and shower handy for washing off after coming in from the lake or a muddy walk. The washing machine is hidden behind the front door in the entryway, cleverly utilising an unused corner of the kitchen.

The well-designed kitchen is functional and offers everything you need within reach – including a Bosch electric oven and cooktop, dishwasher, Nespresso coffee machine, integrated fridge freezer and a good size sink.

There is a delightful dual aspect open-plan dining and living area capturing all-day sun and lake views through the French double doors. The dining table can seat up to 8 and the snug lounge area comfortably seats 7 guests.

Spend the chilly evenings warming yourself by the fire while watching the moonlight dance on the lake.

 First Floor

Upstairs you are greeted by an impressive ceiling to floor bookcase packed with an extensive collection of books to suit all ages and genres.

On the first floor there is a King bedroom with a small reading nook and a further double bedroom of which both rooms enjoy spectacular views over Somerford Lagoon.

Across the hall to the front of the lodge is a bunk room that sleeps 3 with a bunk bed and a single bed. This room also features a selection of games and books to entertain the kids.

There is a decent-sized bathroom with wood and natural tile features and a lovely big deep bathtub to soak the day away.

A stairgate is positioned at the bottom of the stairs for the safety of young children, and to keep pet's downstairs to avoid muddy paws upstairs on the carpet and beds.

As in my review the building works at various properties cause noise and should be done in the off peak of Jan and Feb , or should be warned on booking The location and the idea behind the Lower Mill estate is a good idea , easy access to the Cotswolds makes for a good variation of the activities available.
